Introduction to Sound System Fundamentals Workshop

Course Description:
This comprehensive workshop introduces participants to the essential components of a professional sound system. Over six weeks, you will learn the fundamental parts of a sound system, from microphones and mixing consoles to speakers and monitor systems. Gain hands-on experience with both analog and digital setups, explore microphone types and techniques, and practice creating full sound systems.  During the sixth week, you will have the opportunity to assemble and configure various sound systems, including digital and analog hybrid setups. In the final week, you will focus on live sound mixing with a real band for hands-on mixing practice. 

Ideal for beginners and enthusiasts looking to develop their skills in live sound engineering.

All materials for the workshop are included in the course, however participants are required to bring a notebook, tablet, or laptop for taking notes.
 

Course Outline:

Week 1: Overview of a typical sound system and its components (microphones, mixing consoles, speakers)
Week 2: Deep dive into microphones, pickup patterns, and micing techniques
Week 3: Mixing consoles – analog vs. digital
Week 4: Speaker systems – passive, active, and monitoring setups
Week 5: Building sound systems – from analog to digital hybrids
Week 6: Live band mixing practice
